Messy Art Day FAQ
Contact messyartday@ecpckids.com if you have any further questions about Messy Art Day and more!
- What is Messy Art Day?
Messy Art Day is an annual community event, hosted annually at ECPC, where children can explore colors, textures and a variety of media in a safe and fun environment, immersing themselves in ECPC’s play-based philosophy. - When, where, and what time is Messy Art Day?
– When: Sunday, March 16, 2025
– Where: ECPC School, 7200 Moeser Ln, El Cerrito, CA 94530 & Ashby Avenue.
– Time: 10am – 4pm (See session time breakdown in Registration page) - Is the event free?
Yes, Messy Art Day is free for all families! - Do I need to register?
Registration is required for activities inside ECPC — with a suggested donation of $5 per person. Early bird registration is strongly recommended, as we do sell out due to maximum capacity. Once early bird and public reservations are closed, a waitlist will be available for those who wish to join. However, no reservations are necessary if you and your family are only attending on Asbury Avenue. Check out the Registration page for current updates. - What age groups is it suitable for?
Activities inside ECPC are specifically designed for ages 2-5, while activities along Ashbury Avenue offer fun for all ages. - What if I have multiple children in various age groups?
Unfortunately because of capacity, we do not allow children over 5 inside the school. If you have both an older and a younger child, we recommend having an extra adult to spend time on Ashbury Avenue with the big sibling. - Can we attend both morning and afternoon sessions?
Since capacity is limited inside our school, we prefer that families attend just one session so more people can join in the fun. However, Ashbury Avenue is open to all ages all day for everyone to enjoy! - What should we bring?
We recommend bringing clothes that can get messy and a change of clothes if needed—everyone will have more fun that way! Pack a sun hat and sunscreen, as all stations are outdoors. Feel free to bring water bottles and any extra snacks you may need, in addition to options from our food trucks. All art supplies are provided. - Is the event safe for children with sensory sensitivities?
We strive to make Messy Art Day inclusive, with designated stations and sensory-friendly areas for children with different needs. - Can we take home our art?
Not exactly—ECPC’s artistic philosophy is “process over product.” We want families to take home joy, inspiration, and some great photos, rather than finished products. - Is parking available?
Yes, public parking is available along Pomona Avenue next to Cerrito Vista Park and in a public lot located behind ECPC and the Contra Costa Civic Theater (accessible via Pomona Avenue). Additional street parking can be found on Moeser Lane and neighboring streets. We encourage carpooling or using public transportation when possible. - Is there food available?
Yes, food and beverages will be available for purchase at the event, via mainly food trucks, with options for both kids and adults. - How can I support Messy Art Day?
You can support Messy Art Day by volunteering, donating, or becoming a sponsor. Visit our Sponsorship and Donations page for more information. If you have any questions, feel free to email messyartday@ecpckids.com.
